America Succeeds UpdatesDurable Skills

Welcome to Durable Skills, 24/7

We are excited to share our new interactive website, DurableSkills.org!

This website presents Durable Skills data alongside college- and career-ready standards, work-based learning frameworks, and high school graduation requirements for all 50 states plus DC, Guam, and Puerto Rico.

Before now, there has been no single online source that aggregates all of this data. DurableSkills.org is a first-of-its-kind, comprehensive, publicly available resource for policymakers, advocates, business leaders, and educators. Combining the proprietary Durable Skills data by America Succeeds and Lightcast (formerly Emsi Burning Glass) with a national policy landscape analysis helps put actionable information into the hands of decision-makers to drive positive change.

Policymakers and advocates can now understand the full continuum of policies advancing Durable Skills – from what states expect graduates to learn in terms of career readiness to how a state provides those learning opportunities to students, to what employers can expect from graduates for every state – and they’ll be able to make comparisons between states, study national trends, and explore models for action.

Finally, this website connects what we know about Durable Skills from the demand side (what employers want) and for what and how students are being prepared on the supply side (what our education system is producing). Our goal is to influence both policy and practice, and better prepare all learners and earners for future success.

Stay tuned for our upcoming blog series in which we will be diving into best practices for how to use this website, including trends across states, exceptional models, and where we might go from here.
