Our friends at Bellwether Education Partners work hard in service of underserved kids, and also know how to have fun. (Something we feel strongly about at America Succeeds too!)
At their most recent retreat, associate partners Nisha Wadhwani and Evan Coughenour, and managing editor Tanya Paperny formed a surprise, one-time-only cover band called “Chord Values,” a reference to Bellwether’s deeply held Core Values.
They covered Enrique Iglesias’ “Hero” with lyrics rewritten to reference Bellwether- and education-related inside jokes. It was a hoot.
Which is why we are so excited to share the lyrics and a short video with you, our GratefulEd readers. Ladies and gentlemen, introducing Chord Values!!! Watch the video now.
Chord Value Lyrics:
Would you Zoom if I asked you to Zoom?
Or would you run and never look back?
Would you blog if you saw me blogging?
And would you make this slide…tonight
Would you tremble if I syn-er-gized?
Or would you laugh? Oh, please don’t be surprised
Now would you die for more free swag?
Oh hold it in your arms tonight
I can be your honey badger
I can burrow through the pain
I will post it all on Chatter
You can take my breath away
Would you swear that you’ll log interviews
And would you read all the education news?
Are we in too deep? Have we lost our minds?
We don’t care, you’re here tonight
I can be your badger baby
I can burrow through the pain
there’s no drama at Bellwether, but…
You can take my breath away
Oh, I’m just looking for impact
Oh…I’m just looking for impact…
Are we in too deep? Have we lost our minds?
Still,
let’s celebrate, we’re all here tonight
We can all be honey badgers
But only one gets the award
We will post it all to Chatter
You will take our breath away
We can all be badgers
We can burrow through the pain
There’s no drama at Bellwether
You can take our breath away
You will take our breath away
We are all now badgers
