The Challenge of Addressing Schools with Large Populations of Low-Income Students

One area where a new approach is sorely needed is in how to address schools with large populations of low-income students. Why? Because current accountability systems typically tell us more about the poverty levels among students in the school than whether schools are doing a good job serving those students and helping them grow. It’s a complicated issue, for sure. This piece on The 74 explains the challenges states face in addressing this issue. As you might imagine, there’s no straightforward answer.
